Godrej launched the country’s first refrigerator in 1958. A product of Mr. Naoroji Pirojsha Godrej’s vision, the Model 9 refrigerator was a 7-cubic-foot model. It featured a half-freezer and automatic temperature control. General Electric Company had supplied the refrigeration unit, but this changed by 1962, when Godrej began manufacturing hermetically sealed compressors in India.
