National Roundtable Meet on discussing pedagogic issues about ‘Designing for Children’

Tuesday 2nd of February 2010, Venue: IDC, IIT Bombay


Background:
A National meet on introducing ‘Design and Innovation’ in school curriculum was held at IDC, IIT Bombay during February 2009.

The outcome of the meet in February 2009 is the report on introducing 'Design and Innovation' in school Curriculum in India. The February meet had come out with a set of recommendations with regard to (1) curriculum, (2) methods of learning design and (3) modalities for
implementing this proposal.

This is being submitted as a set of recommendations to the Ministry of Human Resources and Development and to the various directorates of school education.

Aim:
This meet intends to bring focus on issues connected with 'designing for children'. This could be through curriculum and content development for introducing ‘Designing for Children' as a specialisation in design schools.

Participants:
Faculty members in charge of the academic programs from design + decision makers in different school directorates + others working in the field of Children’s environment.

IDC, IIT Bombay will be the venue during the meet for the participants.

This meet is a part of a pre-meet before the conference on ‘Designing for Children’ scheduled to be held at Mumbai, India on the next three days 3rd to 5th of Feb 2010 and being hosted by the Industrial Design Centre (IDC), at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Mumbai.
