Making oil lamps

Clay, which us brought from different nearby areas is stored in an open area of the house, from where they can take clay according to the requirement.
Stones and gravels are removed from the clay by using a steel mesh, then soaked into water and left for a day.
The wet clay is kneaded to remove air bubbles and to mix the particles of the clay finely.
Kneaded clay is then thrown on the traditional wheel which needs to be run manually.
The wheel is rotated using a stick time to time, to give it a certain amount of momentum to work with.
The raised clay is turned into oil lamps and removed by using a thread and kept aside.
Wet lamps are sun dried along the road side.
Dried lamps are then baked along with other clay products like pots and dishes in a huge furnace, covered with dried cow dung cakes, used as a fuel.
The process of baking takes place over night followed by the cooling process.
Following morning, the baked lamps and other clay products are removed from the ashes.
Baked clay lamps are then coloured red.
The baked clay lamps and other products are then displayed for sale.
