Adding the dye color to the boiling water

The colored water is stirred well for a while

Initially the yarn is soaked in cold water before dyeing

The soaked yarn is arranged on the rod

The arranged yarn is brought together and dipped in colored solution

The yarn is dipped into the solution at a very high temperature

The first round of dipping the yarn is done

Turning the yarn for the uniform application of color

Repeated dipping and rotation ensures enhanced luster and uniformity

The colored yarn is ready to be removed from the container

This dyed yarn is wrung out and allowed to dry in shade

The yarn allowed to cool at the room temperature for two days
The art of dyeing silk is the story of transforming raw silk to colouredyarn and further enhancing the weaving process with customized designs with the warps and wefts. The dyeing process is cautiously practice as it involves boiling of the yarn in the high temperature. Repeated boiling and cooling of the yarn helps in the uniformity of the dye application. On completion, the dyed yarn is dried in shade at room temperature. This dyeing process is documented from the silk city of Dhrmavaram located in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh.
