This is the guardian male lion statue just outside on the left side of the Namrodoling Monastery, Golden Temple in Coorg district, Karnataka.
The lion is carved in stone and is painted with vivid colour of blue on white. The eyes are a fiery yellow with green pupils. The mouth is open and one can see the world inside its mouth in form of a sphere. It has its left paw on top of another carved sphere. There are two lions on either side of the temple, a male on the left and a female on the right.
