Kumbakonam, is a town in the Thanjavur district in Tamil Nadu. It is known for its temples and mathas. Around 188 Hindu temples reside within Kumbakonam. The important products of Kumbakonam include brass, bronze, copper and lead vessels, silk and cotton cloths, sugar, indigo and pottery. The most important temples present in Kumbakonam are the Sarangapani temple, the Kumbeswara temple and the Ramaswamy temple.
