Jodhpuri Safas are the most well-known turban designs around the world . They are especially famous for their prints and patterns bringing forth the colourful image of Rajasthani culture. A ‘Safa’ or ‘Pagadi’ (in hindi) is considered to be a mark of honour for a man. A man wearing the safa along with the traditional sherwani is seen as a perfect gentleman. A safa is generally 10 meters long with a width of over 1 meter. It is worn as a collective circular bun over the head and a part of the safa hangs as a tail. The head bears a fan like form in case of a few Jodhpuri Safas. The patterns and colours used are bright and intense mostly printed on cotton cloth. Safa wearing tradition is an integeral part of not only everyday wear for men, but they also continue the tradition for special occasions and festivals of Rajasthan.
