In the Southern part of Mumbai, which always remained a more business related center, many wooden shop signs can still be found. These signs evolved before the current technology of print or laser cutting was easily available. The signs were hand carved in wood and placed on the shops façade with the help of nails. Today they can be seen in ruins as well as with a fresh dab of paint.
