'The Sound Garden' - Interactive Play Environment for Toddlers
The Interactive Musical Environment for Children has been conceptualised with "Play" as the motto.
The objective of the project is to expose toddlers to music and sounds at an early stage of the growing process and through which they should be able to interact and experience the natural environment of sound and music. As final design goal the designer finally decided to create an experience through playful musical environment which will facilitate listening, performing and composing which will involve social, emotional and physical interaction.
It offers a playscape with ample space and opportunity for motor sensory development of the kids - a tactile and exploratory space with musical interaction. Most importanatly it offers a medium of self expression for the toddlers.
The environment could be part of playschools as well as part of public spaces like the parks, malls, airports, hospitals and clinics, amusement parks, museums and convention centres where it could attempt to enrich the daily life of children in a small way besides enriching them with exposure to music at an early age.
A rigorous step by step design processes followed during the project which includes contextual research, case studies, user studies, brain storming and user mapping, need identification and user group selection, formulation of design goals, ideations, concept generation and testing.
