The Arab Institute in Paris has been set up to exhibit and showcase Arts, Music and Cultural aspects of the Arab world. The southern face of the building has been designed with an interesting repeated module based on the Arabic pattern. These patterns have openings (in fact 240 of them in each panel) which are sensitive to the light falling on them – in the sense they can respond by opening and closing like an aperture in turn controlling the light entering the building. The architecture is by Jean Nouvel along with Architecture-Studio.
