Following are the tools and raw materials required for durries and carpet weaving:
• Woolen Yarn: An essential basic raw material.
• Warping Wheel and Frame: A metal machinery which helps in making the base of the carpet
• Panja (metal comb): A comb like object used for hitting the knot yarns in order to tighten the weave.
• Charkha (Spinning wheel: it is used in the process of yarn making out of loose woolen felt.
• Vertical Handloom: It is a technical supporter with Shed sticks Reed or Heddle, Upper and Lower beams
• Churra and Chhura (Knife or blade): It is held by the artisan in the process of knotting and cutting the yarn.
• A Pair of Scissors and Hand Clippers: It is used in cutting, shredding and to level the yarn pile (carpet face).
• Needle and Thread: It is used in the process of binding the carpet.
• Hand Carders: Metal brushes used in carding the wool.
• Natural Dyes: Dyes made out of minerals and vegetables used in the process of dying light colours to the yarn.
• Chemical Dyes: Dyes used basically for the influx of bright colours to the yarn.
• Dye Bath: A space with cement tubs and rotatory machines to dye the yarns.
• Yarn Balls: It is made for the easier application of knots.
• Warp Wheel: It is a machine which rolls the cotton yarn onto it uniformly and produces an appropriate warp.
• Sharp File Tool: It looks similar to a big awl, which is used in protruding the improper knots.
• Thokni (Wooden mallet): It is used in striking the yarn knots and knits into the place.
• Washing Equipment: Wooden stick with a flat woodenhead with slant cut edge to push the water and detergents. This tool looks similar to the rowing oar.
• Hand Tufting Machine: An iron gun with a mechanism of clumps the yarn on to the canvas and cutting it in an appropriate length.
• Latex: A gum natural rubber which is used like an adhesive to lock the knots weaved.
• Felt Cloth: It is used as a backing material for the tufted carpet.
• Yarn Swift: It holds hank yarns or skeins of yarn in place as you wind them into balls.
• Netted or Mat like Cloth Material: It is used as a base for tufting carpets and dhurries.
• Iron Frame with Nails Embedded: It is used for holding the canvas stiff vertical when artisan is tufting the carpet.
