Restaurants house large numbers of people and often rely on artificial cooling mechanisms. Open and semi-open restaurants often forgo the use of fans or use pedestal fans that cover multiple tables as an alternative to ceiling fans. Pedestal fans, while movable obstruct floor space and have exposed wiring which is a tripping hazard. Ceiling fans require a robust ceiling through which wiring can be done - which may not always be present in open restaurants.
Over the years, many types of fan designs and clamping mechanisms have come up. However, there is yet a need for a fan that can be attached simply and quickly to a steel column without any permanent intervention into the column.
The project aims to design a fan that can be used across open cafe restaurants that use steel beams of any cross-section for their roofing.
