Nowadays transportation is a part of human life, an abled person can travel easily by different means of transport, but for disabled people, travelling is not easy. There are over 2.7 Crore people with disabilities out of which 54 lakhs have a disability in movement in India. People majorly use the wheelchair for short-distance mobility and for long-distance they prefer tricycles and public transport. The project required user research of physically disabled people to understand the aspirations and problems related to long-distance travelling. The study found that handicapped people want to drive their vehicles without any assistant help, and they do not want to depend on others. The project aims to design an electric car, driven by a wheelchair user without any assistant help.
The vehicle can be used as a Taxi/cab which can accommodate a driver with a wheelchair and two passengers. The entry/exit of the wheelchair is designed from the rear door of the vehicle with foldable passenger seats to make proper utilization of space. This project will also help to develop employment for handicapped users.
