Leather has been for the craftsman one of the most versatile, evergreen and challenging material to work with. It has been used as packaging rather than a product for most part of its existence as a material or craft. It has taken various forms like bags, caps, sheaths, coats etc.
Craft in its broadest sense refers to the creation of original objects through the disciplined manipulation of material. It counteracts the alienation brought in by industrialization, reaffirming the human element in daily life. Amid mass production craft can impart greater meaning to individual expression.
The crafts being developed today relate to technical evolution and a number of cultural influences from both within and outside, creating new interpretations of ancient techniques and styles giving fresh expressions to craft.
