Keywords:
The keywords process was done with continuous brainstorming method with users, non users of truck with showing visual of the Ashok Leyland present trucks. The user were specifically asked for the future requirement of the vehicles with some rough sketches and available concept trucks and insights were taken from them.
The Name Game:
The name windliner came with same process with the words like evil wind in mind and imagining the sound the wind produced when it tries to gush through a narrow lane. The brain storming process took a long time as to match with the keywords , the technology used and the overall predicted form of the vehicle.
Colour Boards:
Colour Green:
Green is considered one of the additive primary colors, along with red and blue. The additive color model defines colors emitted from a light source. For example, a mixture of green, red, and blue light will produce white light. n many folklores and literatures, green has traditionally been used to symbolize nature and its embodied attributes, namely those of life, fertility, and rebirth. Green was symbolic of resurrection and immortality in Ancient Egypt; the god Osiris was depicted as green-skinned.[28] It is often used to describe foliage and the sea, and has become a symbol of environmentalismn. The metaphysics of the "New Age Prophetess", Alice Bailey, in her system called the Seven Rays which classifies humans into seven different metaphysical psychological types, the "third ray" of "creative intelligence" is represented by the color green.
The future vehicle world is supposed to be green, as on to preserve and live in nature. For me , in future when the truck would pass through a green blanket of grass or mountain , imagining the view from a birds eye, lead me thought on the colour of the vehicle. Thus the study of understanding colour lead to a very essential implementation of graphics, the proportions and colour as well.

Mood Boards:
The mood board consist of images, which represent the new language defined with following keywords. I have used mood boards to develop the design concepts and to communicate the design to other people.
The mood boards speaks more of aggression, boldness and very strong elements, yet the picture of flow of liquid and smoke that is exhaled show the dynamism in a very subtle way. The dynamism is indirectly represented in the word evil wind.
City scape 2020:
The city scape were modeled as in to understand the future scenario the truck is going to be seen in. The scape collage shows the new modern developed cities which will be connected with expressway.
Ashok Leyland Festive Grounds:
Festive ground represents a opportunity for me to create a social ground for the truck drivers community. The future road pilots are gonna drive the intelligent machines for which a community ground or a interaction centre is created as in to meet , share thought, exchange parts, displays of merchandise .
On other side Ashok Leyland takes a lead in providing a such a service, where a community of Road pilots (PIVERS) enjoy’s a brunch or even celebrate a festival. Rest of the time, the place can be a service park.
Pivers:
The pivers is a category of truck drivers who will be driving the new intelligent trucks.
Why a new category?
We as lay man have great respect towards the pilots and captains, but why not a respect to all these drivers of truck. The new trucks designed are to be intelligent and smart, more gadgetised . In my position as a designer , I get an opportunity to work socially for the drivers and get their stature to a higher level.
Considering a system where pivers will be employed, they will be traveling a lot in a day with one time journey of 175 kms approx. At every factory setting grounds the pivers will change and the truck would be handed over to the next piver. So in such a case where the truck has been common in all the pivers, there is nothing as a personalized touch with each piver.
So as to give a feel of personalized cab, the piver is provided with a steering which stores all the data, licence, and the information of the load to be dropped. The steering will be a personalized wheel, which can be customized as per the need and comes with a F1 steering technology where it is detachable.
Hypo-System:
The hypo system is hypothetical system created for the freight management. The whole freight will be managed by the A.L management group. The idea is to hire drivers and train them with the usage of new intelligent trucks . There will be Factory setting outlets every 175/200 kms on the express ways. The piver will change after it engages the truck in bay, and the truck will be taken over by the other piver for fonward journey. At every A.L factory setting outlet, the vehicle will be charged and re tuned for the onward journey.
So in a day a truck will run for approx 15 hrs.
Defining a new theme Visual Language:
The experiment was done considering the shapes of headlamps, and steering wheels of the vehicle. The expression was taken from human. The eye brow is one of the elements which describe the expression of the face. Thus various forms and exploration were done with variant sketches and colours so as to understand the expressions.
Finally the theme was created and finalized by visualizing a 3d model. The forms is set to achieve the expression such as aggressive, simple yet bold stance.
