The Astronomical Society of India (ASI), established in 1972, is the premier association of professional astronomers in India. The outreach activities of the ASI are conducted by its Public Outreach and Education Committee (POEC). One of the major activities of the POEC has been to create quality open-source multilingual resource material, with multiple regional stakeholders, and serve as a bridge between researchers and the general public.
The ASI and POEC have been exploring the idea of developing a few astronomy-themed illustrated books targeted at an audience of typical high school students. ASI proposes the idea of developing such books in collaboration with the IDC School of Design, IIT-B.
For this project, I have chosen the topic - Black holes and the gravitational waves produced by them. This shall succinctly cover:
1. The concept of Black holes
2. The ‘sound’ or gravitational waves produced by them
3. The technology used to capture these ‘sounds’.
