Aim:
Collaborative design project would allow for students to work as a group simulating a professional set-up trying to solve system level design issues, assuming different roles and responsibilities.
Each team is expected to work as a ‘Private Enterprise Company’. (Do name and build the identity for your company).
It involves the students having different skills and strengths working as a team solving a relatively complex design problem.
You can form teams with max 3 students collaborating together. Make sure the teams formed are based on having different skill-sets and not necessarily based on friendship.
The teams will collaborate with external expertise along with faculty mentors for inputs, feedback and suggestions.
We’ll meet twice a week on Monday afternoons (for presentation + report submission + Feedback) and Thursday afternoons (for discussions) and if it’s an ‘emergency’, on other days.
So basically, you need to take responsibility of your organization, be professional and make sure it succeeds.
At the end of the course, you should be able to make a pitch presentation with demonstration of your product/s or service/s.
What will you learn?
. Adopt a design process and methodology for designing
. Conduct independent research and understand the problem space and be able to think critically
. Able to work in teams and collaborate to solve problems
. Confidence in being creative and innovative and convert ideas into workable prototypes
. Get an idea of how to conceive and plan for a start-up
. Learn best practices of documentation and presentation – both oral and written
