About

A one day event on Design Thinking and Innovation (DT&I) is being organised by IDC School of Design on Saturday 1st of July, 2023, at VMCC Auditorium, IIT Bombay.

This event intends to bring focus on the fundamentals/essentials of the Design Thinking and Innovation (DT&I) process as a method to identify problems and find innovative alternate solutions.
The event features a day-long seminar showcasing DT&I project initiatives plus Design Tools presented by faculty heads of these projects, as well as an exhibition of DT&I Projects.

This event coincides with the Design Degree Show 2023 (DDS) organized by the graduating batch of IDC students from 30th of June to 2nd of July 2023.

Who should attend the event?
The event is meant for those who would like to use the Design Thinking and Innovation Process and Tools for purposes of learning and development.
We encourage faculty members at schools and colleges to participate in this event.
The participants will receive a certificate of participation for attending the event.

Seminar

The Seminar will include:
- Presentation by faculty and designers from IDC School of Design, IIT Bombay
- Interactive and participatory discussions and Q&A with the participants which will include academics, teachers researchers and design practitioners

The seminar schedule includes exposure to the following:
- Open Design School (ODS) Programs
- Design Innovation Centre (DIC) Projects
- D'source (e-Kalpa) online Design Tools
- DT&I Curriculum for Schools and Higher Education Institutes

The seminar will highlight the research, development, and applications carried out under these three design project initiatives
(a) Design Innovation Centre (DIC),
(b) Open Design School (ODS) and
(c) D'source (e-Kalpa) project with all the three projects being part of the National Initiative on Design Innovation (NIDI) supported by the Ministry of Education.

Exhibitions

The following exhibitions of design projects will be on display during the event:
- DDS 2023 showcasing the graduating student projects of IDC School of Design
- Idea to Reality: Realizing Student Innovations as part of Design Innovation Centre (DIC)
- Open Design School exhibiting their online learning courses
- Design Tools and Resources by the D'source (e-Kalpa) project
