Transforming Lamps is a special project by Ashika Singh that explores the expressive potential of painted lamp surfaces and the interplay of paint, form, and light. Through hands-on experiments with surface treatment, translucency, and illumination, the project explores how painted motifs and material choices alter a lamp’s behavior and the atmosphere it creates—turning functional objects into narrative lightscapes. By mixing hands-on experiments with careful observation and thought, the work places decorative painting in a design approach that focuses on touch, light, and the creative potential of ordinary items.
