The want to communicate our thoughts, ideas, information or feelings is innate to most beings. Since the prehistoric times, sound has been one of the most expressive and indigenous ways of communication for human race. From calls to refined speech, ‘Man’, the social animal, has come a long way.
Sound as a Call was our Warning.
Sound as speech becomes our Thoughts.
Sound as music becomes our Feelings.
Sight of Sound focuses on enhancing this very facet of sound as an expression of emotions and endeavours to create an intuitive mode of communication that attempts to simulate a sound–to–colour synesthetic (chromesthetic) effect for the user and the audience.
Just as phonetic alphabets that codify sounds on abstract visual forms, this chromesthetic effect is achieved by codification of colour on sounds. But unlike the former, this codification isn’t arbitrary but based on emotions that both Music (sound) and Colour are capable of evoking. With the help of new media and gesture-based input, the user/audience would be allowed to create chromesthetic compositions and experience this 'enhanced expression.’
