Redialling Third Eye
Identification for conceptual directions were drawn by undertaking cultural study of two regions of India viz. West Bengal and Kerala jointly by me and my colleague to make a comparative study of similarities and contrast. These were presented in the form of a slide presentation that examined the rich tapestry of sounds, sights and texture from the domain of food, dance form, crafts and the living culture of the two communities in these two states.
Key thematic directions were drawn from these studies and formed the basis for the concept and the selection of the media.
1. Concept selection:
The Bengali Rock Band Mohiner Ghoraguli, has a musical collection of songs titled 'Telephone'. These songs deal with everyday topics such as - politics, poverty, injustice, revolution, love, loneliness, begging and prostitution and are very mesmerizing.
Hence, I chose to interpret the theme of 'Loneliness’ for my project in planning for performance design.
