Coir is extracted from coconuts in mechanized method and rope is prepared in traditional method. The coir rope is prepared in different thicknesses as per the requirement and demands of the market. More number of coir strands are added together and entwined to obtain more thickness. Floor mats, brushes, rugs, wall hangings, ceiling and floor furnishings, beds, cushions and show pieces are the kinds of household hold products prepared from the natural fibre. The coir pith or coir dust is another natural material extracted from husk. It is used to make several products such as mulch, bricks. It also acts as valuable manure, hence used in horticultural and agricultural applications.
