Firstly, the artisan separates the best husks from a lot of raw corn supplied to the artisan place. He/She trims the top and bottom portion of these husks with a scissor and keeps it ready to work on. The husks are then painted with acrylic paints as per requirement and left to dry for 10 minutes. While the husks dry, the binding wire is trimmed to a size of one foot and six inches using a cutting plier. Then the painted husks are arranged in layers to form a flower-like structure and rolled over the top of the binding wire in the shape of a rose. Once attached, a cotton thread is tied around them to hold it tight, followed by a thick covering of green-coloured ribbon tape that sticks well to the binding wire. These steps give a beautiful corn husk rose with the stem.
Then proceeding with further steps in the flower vase making, next a small bag of dry chillies is taken and is used as a pest controller here. Artisan selecting the best dry chillies with stem from them slits its head along with branch to make buds for the flower bunch. These chilli heads are then cleaned to remove seeds. Once cleaned, it is rolled to appropriately sized binding wires, followed by a covering of green and maroon ribbon tapes over the stem-like wire. Once all the flowers and buds are ready, they are assembled and arranged together on a vase. This makes a decent flower vase that one would love to own to use as a showpiece in their personal space.
