Great Hadimba Co-operative Society is one of the many co-operative societies operating in Manali region and producing shawls, stole, mufflers, socks, caps and other handloom artifacts. Started in 1999, it is currently run by approximately thirty families. Apart from handloom work, it also trains people on weaving and designing. In earlier times, weaving of shawls and other woolen items, was the functional need of a family, and the women of the house did it. Today the industry is growing and men are equally involved in the process of weaving handcrafted products.
Sunil Dutt, member of Great Hadimba Co-operative Society, operates his store from the Old Manali. Nepali resident Gopal works here as a craftsman and travel back to his country in off-season.
