Pavithra ring being a traditional jewelry requires three days to make. It is considered as the sacred divine energy channel. Thus wearing of pavithra ring with discipline is good for tranquility and well-being.
The tools that are used for making pavithra ring are cleaned initially. The surface of the silver bar is hammered thoroughly to make the surface even. The rod is heated for the further process. By using metal rolling machine the heated silver rod is made into thin silver wire. Thus the silver wire is heated and trimmed to the required size. Here the thickness of the silver wire is maintained even. The size of the silver wire is cross checked using gauge tool and the excess of wire is cut off. The ends of the silver wires are joined by twisting them together. Again the wound silver wires are heated. Plastic wire is used for the reference. Silver wire is passed through the plastic wire to obtain the accurate design of the ring. Once the design is obtained then the plastic wire (reference) is removed carefully. Thus the design of the silver wire forms a knot.
The silver bar is leveled and heated to give the shape of the ring. Then the silver bar is bent to a ring shape using ring sizer and hammer. Soluble flux is mixed with water to make a solution and the knotted silver wire is soldered on the silver ring. A design that has to be fixed on the top of the silver ring is made separately using silver. This motif is further heated. The two ends of the ring are soldered to attach and on the joining of the ring is where the motif is attached by soldering it again. Thus the ring is dipped in water to cool the temperature of the ring. It is further cleaned by scrubbing using metal wire brush. Ring is then scrubbed in the mixture of sand and water. Using a sharp pointed tool, mud that is stuck in-between the design of the ring is cleaned. Thus the pavithra ring is ready to be worn.
