Decorating Bamboo Structure
The next procedure in making of toran is decorating the structure. I had been referred to Mrs. Gaurabai Patil who is very old and very sweet lady who has been engaged in decorating bamboo structure since after her marriage. Decorating the bamboo structure includes beautifying the structure with golden paper and pasting the images of Hindu gods and goddesses as well as religious symbols like ‘Swatik’ or ‘Aum’ which is supplied by the vendor. For this they use natural gum which is made out of wheat flour. She is getting paid 3ruppes per piece and the admirable fact; she is really fast moreover efficient in her work.
