Different types of tools and raw materials are used for engraving. The types of wood usually preferred for engraving work are- teak, rose and vengai wood (locally called). The chisels are called as “Ulli” in (local language). The woodcarvings made in this place have flair in the styles. Polishing is done to give the product more attractive look and to seal the surface against moisture.

Wooden Mallet:
It is used to give shape to wood.

Chisels:
Different types of chisels are used for carving.

Scale and Pencil:
It is used to mark and draw the designs.

KG Cardboard:
It is used to make designs.

Carbon sheets:
It is used to trace the designs as reference.

L - shaped Ruler:
It is used to measure the edges of the wood.

Router Machine:
It is used to scrape out the unwanted areas in the design.

Wax:
It is used to polish the article giving it more elegant appearance.

Sand paper:
It is used to make the surface smooth.
