We have been working with the brand since the year 2000 and we have seen it grow from a Delhi based brand to a nationwide brand as we know it now. PVR cinemas has defined the genre of multiplexes and branded environments in India with each of their properties redefining the existing design vocabulary of cinema environments. J+W London, the primary design architects for PVR, are instrumental for exposing us to a brand new paradigm of cinema interiors. With PVR we have had the opportunity to do some of more interesting work.
Our role as Sign design and Wayfinding consultants with PVR we have designed and standardized the designs for the all the signs within each of their various cinema exhibition verticals namely PVR Premiere, PVR Cinemas and PVR Talkies. This has benefits the company in terms of implementation of the design package amongst multiple products, simplifies the complete value chain from procurement, production to implementation and commissioning. It also offers a unified brand image/identity for the brand and distinguishes between the various brand offerings.
From a user’s point of view it ensures a high level of brand recognition and recall and offers a consistent experience amongst in all PVR’s.
Over the years we have formulated various iterations of the standard design set so as to respond to the architecture and I.D. of the cinema keeping the main components of the wayfinding scheme standardized. With advances in materials and techniques of production and our learning; we have fine tuned the final product in the physical space. This evolution of the sign design identity keeps the brand fresh and new yet retaining the recognition of the old.
