Abhijit Bansod - The man who designs from his heart (with his emotions).



The man who transformed the Titan into a design brand unveiling India’s cultural uniqueness and diversified forms. He was also instrumental in pioneering Indian ‘Heritage’ and ‘Raga’ collections at Titan. Launching his own brand titled 'Abhijit Bansod Designs' - or Studio ABD as is famously known, ABD has won a number of national and international accolades. Significantly, special mention has to be made of the IPL trophy which Abhijit Bansod designed himself while he was working with Titan Design Studio (TDS).

A product of NID (National Institute of Design) Ahmedabad, Abhijit Bansod has carved a niche for himself and is known widely for designing the much popular Titan Heritage and Titan Raga collections. Not to mention of the numerous accolades he has won, he was also nominated as a jury member during the recently concluded Cannes Lions awards, 2012.

Being from a mechanical engineering background (1994 – 1998) with a post graduate degree in Product Design from NID, it was not tough for him to design products and labels. It was during his days in NID, that he found within himself the creativity of becoming a product designer. His products showcases the blending of style with glamour, modern with contemporary looks fused together to a classic and elegant touch of diversified India. As part of new age design movement in India, Abhijit believes in creating an open platform to discover new facets of contemporary Indian design. And that is the reason that after decade long experience with Titan Design Studio, he founded Studio ABD in 2008. His design touches the Indian emotional chord, drawing inspiration from the richness of Indian culture which is reflected from the way his products have been appreciated by consumers.

Abhijit believes in celebrating artistic creativity in combing the minutest of Indian tradition with state of the art technology, and fuses the fragments of diversified Indian cultural traditions with new-age thinking. The designer has a desire to seize creativity with perfection. Uniqueness, acceptance to new ideas and changes, socially recognized, noticed and upheld, experimental thinking are the traits that distinguish his personality. He sees creativity with an Indian eye and so does his product designs. For him, creating new has to be done from the point of Indianness. He makes sure that while crafting his design, the products don’t lose their Indian identity. And because of this identity, the consumers find it so easy to relate to his products which results in instant hits.
