Induction is the practice to make a general rule from a number of instances. ‘Induction is the foundation of empirical scientific reasoning, as the goal is to determine what different events have in common’ (Nemeth, 1996). For instance, if water is boiled in 100 different pots in same conditions, boiling starts when temperature reaches a temperature of 212o F (or 100o C). Inductive reasoning leads to the conclusion that water boils at 212o F.
