Alanganallur Jallikattu - Tamil Nadu
On 16th January 2018, in an attempt to officially announce the reimplementation of the sport, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam jointly inaugurated the famous Jallikattu event at Alanganallur of Madurai district. The Alanganallur Jallikattu is a state government-sponsored bull-embracing event. The Chief Minister read out an oath while others repeated it. Around 500 plus bull embracers, 1,000 plus bulls, and spectators from different parts of the state, country, and even foreign lands gathered at the event.
Two cars and three two-wheelers were among the prizes that were distributed to the winning bull-tamers and the owners of the winning bulls. Gold coins, electronic items, and cash were also part of the prize list.
