Making Process

  • Printer-friendly version

The process starts by stuffing a handful of waste cloth into pink colour sponge material. This is the bud or the flower of the plant. Binding wire is fixed to this bud with a handle which represents the stem of the banana plant. Binding wire is flexible and can be bent into any shape desired. Green colour cellophane tape is used to cover the binding wire affixed to the bud.

A thinner binding wire is used to make the banana fruit. Yellow colour sponge is cut and binding wire is placed inside. This is tied tightly using thread in the corners. Binding wire is not covered with any tape. It is left protruding outside which will come of use in the next step.

Each banana shaped sponge is now taken and tied to the bud made earlier. Binding wire helps in strengthening the hold of banana fruit to the stem. These are tied as a bunch, first round above the bud and gradually one by one towards the top.

Black marker is used on the tip of the banana fruit to make it more realistic. This is the final step of the process.
