Tools and Materials
Following are the tools and raw materials required for traditional block making:
• Drawing Paper: Its used to draw the required design.
• Wooden Block: The basic raw material for block making.
• Filer: Its used to smoothen the rough surface of the wood.
• Customized Chisels: Modified chisels according to the requirement.
• White Poster Colour: To paint the wooden block, which makes easy to get impression of the required design.
• Wooden Mallet: Its used to carve the wood by beating the chisel.
• Bow Drill: A traditional drilling tool used to drill out the unwanted portion from the block.
• Colour Pencil: To colour the outlined design and to differentiate between the raised portion and negative space.
• Metal Scale and Compass: To measure the wooden block to get an exact geometrical shape.
