Detailed Description

This research project examines the role of sound design in establishing mood, emotion, atmosphere, and storytelling in films, with a focus on acousmatic, diegetic, and non-diegetic sound. Through the analysis of three acclaimed films—Psycho, Limelight, and Omkara—the study explores how sound shapes narrative, builds suspense, enhances character development, and influences audience perception. By comparing different cinematic approaches, the project highlights the significance of sound as a fundamental storytelling tool that extends beyond on-screen visuals to create immersive and emotionally engaging film experiences.
