The Virtual Boy, a portable gaming console was launched by Nintendo in 1995. It was marketed as the first gaming system capable of displaying stereoscopic graphics. The display of the Virtual Boy was based on red LED eyepiece reflexive technology which made it monochrome. The controller which came along allowed the users to interact with the graphical world. However, the innovation didn’t pay off well for the developers as it ended up as one of the lowest selling products of Nintendo. The lack of colours in the display and the ergonomic issues with the optics pulled back the customers from this unique adventure.
