This poster was made for the movie Sant Tukaram, a 1936 Marathi film, produced by Prabhat Film Company and based on the life of Tukaram (1608–50), a prominent Varkari saint and spiritual poet of the Bhakti movement in India. Tukaram is best known for his devotional poetry called Abhanga and community-oriented worship with spiritual songs known as Kirtan.
