Alam Ara is a 1931 Indian Hindustani-language historical fantasy film directed and produced by Ardeshir Irani. It was a love story between a prince and a gypsy girl. The film had a lot of firsts in it. It was the first talkie to be made and released in India. It introduced the concept of music and it also gave India its first playback singer in the form of Wazir Mohammed Khan.
