This poster was made for the movie Gopal Krishna, a mythological social film produced in 1938 by Prabhat Film Company in Marathi and Hindi. The movie was a remake of Gopal Krishna, the first silent film produced by Prabhat Film Company (1929). It was concurrently produced in Hindi and Marathi. Ram Marathe, Shanta Apte, Parshuram, Prahlad, Ulhas, and Ganpatrao were among the cast members of the movie, which was directed by Sheikh Fattelal and V. G. Damle. Krishnarao composed the music, and Shivram Vashikar wrote the tale.
