Based on the short story Abataranika by Narendranath Mitra, it features Madhabi Mukherjee in the lead role and depicts the tale of a housewife who surprises her conservative family by working as a salesperson. One of the top actresses in Hindi cinema, Jaya Bhaduri, made her debut in the movie.
