Karanath, Shimoga Venkatesh, Anant Nag, Shabana Azmi, and others are among the ensemble cast members in the movie. The storyline of the movie is taken from S. K. Nadig's novel Kannayya Rama. The 1920s are depicted in the movie, when Kanneshwara Rama, a disobedient young man, challenges the village chief's unfair instructions and is exiled from the community.
