This poster was made for the 1973 Bengali movie Ashani Sanket. This film was based on the Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay novel of the same name, directed by Satyajit Ray. Ashani Sanket was shot in colour, unlike the majority of Ray's earlier pictures. In addition to Bangladeshi actress Bobita, who appears in just one notable international part, the picture also stars Soumitra Chatterjee, who has starred in several Ray films. Currently, The New York Times Guide to the Best 1,000 Movies Ever Made includes the movie. Theatre diva Mrityunjay Sil made his stage entrance.
